The Commissioning Grant returns for 2026

Thanks to funding from Chichester City Council, we're delighted to announce the Chichester Fringe Commissioning Grant is returning for 2026. Its purpose is to support up-and-coming artists to perform with us, who otherwise may face financial barriers.

Two successful applicants will receive £250 to put toward their show, set or performance at Chichester Fringe.

Not sure what Chichester Fringe is?

We're on a mission to make performing accessible for all, without a cost barrier. That's why we won't charge you to take part in Chichester Fringe

What is the grant?

Who can apply?

The Chichester Fringe 2026 Commissioning Grant is a route into Fringe.

At Chichester Fringe we are committed to championing new talent, so (just like last year) we're offering a grant of £250 to two applicants seeking to develop their productions with us.

Applications for the Commissioning Grant 2026 are now open and you can apply here. They will close on Wednesday 01st January 2026.

It's designed to give additional financial support to develop an artist or group performance. The grant is open to everyone but in the application process you will be asked how you'll use the money to support your production.

How would the Commissioning Grant help me?

Watch the video below to hear from Iona Rose who was one of the two grant winners at the last Chichester Fringe festival:

With thanks to our volunteers Charlie Allison and Lewis Parr for this video. Lena Richardson hosts.

You can apply online using our form here.

Where has the grant come from?

We've been kindly given this grant by Chichester City Council and we're focussed on giving it to performers who need support getting their production off the ground.

What are you looking for? What do I need to include?

On the form above you'll see what we're asking - you can save your application as you go and submit when you're ready. You'll be asked how you'll use the money to support your production. Be as specific as you can and use examples to support your thinking. Our producers will review your application and consider how the grant will have a real impact on your - both on your final piece at Chichester Fringe, and on your own future development.

When will I find out if I've been gifted the grant?

We will announce the successful applicants in January 2026.

Can I still perform at Chichester Fringe 2026 even if I don't receive the grant?

If you are not selected, all is not lost as we may still offer you a place in Chichester Fringe or you can apply as part of our second wave which will open on Monday 05th January 2026.

How do applications work?

Get involved.

If you've spent all year thinking to yourself, 'I really want to perform', 'I've got ideas for a show', 'I'm waiting for the right opportunity'... this is your chance to showcase your work in a safe space, with support from our dedicated and experienced production volunteers.

I'm not sure Chichester Fringe is right for me...

You won't know until you try. Don't be shy, if you're a creative (pro or just-starting-out), you're welcome at Chichester Fringe.
