Hello from the team!

(Carol was fashionably absent from this shot...)

We're already working really hard on putting together our 2025 plan. Venues are being secured, dates are being decided and we absolutely cannot wait to bring Chichester Fringe back for next year.

But, 2025 is so far away... so...

Poets on the Canal

A night of relevant and contemporary poetry with a mission to show how cool poetry can be.

Chichester Fringe has joined forces with the Chichester Canal Trust and local spoken word poet and author Ryan Burle to host a memorable evening for poetry and non-poetry fans, showing off the power, entertainment and hilarity of life using just words.

What to expect

Poetry from Ryan Burle, Charlie Rosse & Brenda Figg.

Ryan Burle (right) is a spoken word poet and author of his self published poetry collection ‘Write Flight or Freeze’, which explores mental health and the human condition.

Aside from poetry, Ryan is the co-host of a topical, comicaland informative podcast on Spotify named A Couple of CANT’S that explores the topic of adult ADHD.

Ryan created ‘Poets on the Canal' to bring performance opportunities to local poets while aiming to embed poetry further into the fabric of Chichester.

Charlie Rosse (left) is a spoken word poet who performs her fun, conversational poetry in venues around the country. She's performed at Chichester Festival Theatre, for BBC Radio, Victorious Music Festival and Brighton Pride, and was shortlisted for Best Poem of 2024 in the Wordplay Awards, coming third last year in her heat of Brighton’s Hammer and Tongue slam poetry competition.

In addition to poetry, Charlie also writes features for a number of national publications, reviews theatre and has completed her first novel. She is currently exploring the avenues towards literary representation.

Brenda Figg (right) is a poet and self confessed over-thinker who began writing to heal after Covid-19 and she hasn’t stopped writing since! Brenda is an advocate of writing not only for healing but also for fun. It all began when a friend invited her to attend a local spoken word evening by the company ‘Words Out Loud’ in Chichester. Now a regular on the scene, they can’t get rid of her! Brenda is very excited for her next performance adventure at Poets on the Canal.

Read on below to join us for an evening of poetry!

We can't wait to see you there!
