Malawi, musicals and more!

Find out what the team have been doing recently.

It's not just the arts we're passionate about, you see.

Our whole team is made up of brilliant volunteers... which means we all do things outside the Fringe! We thought we'd share some of our favourites from this month.

Part of our team of Directors, Carol has spent all of October visiting Lilongwe in Malawi as part of an annual school partnership programme that links 21 Malawian schools with 22 UK schools, organised by African Vision Malawi.

Her role was to teach pupils and teachers by using the learning packs sent by UK schools. The Malawian schools give demonstrations of their activities which often include amazing traditional dancing, drama, singing, drumming and poetry...

Carol said:

"They are very talented and I would love them to be part of Chichester Fringe! The teachers share their successes but also the problems they face due to extreme poverty. On return I will be visiting the UK schools to share all the children’s pictures and photos and videos I have taken whilst over here. I will try and explain what it is like to live, learn and play in a rural village."

We salute you Queen Carol!

Yasmina's in a musical!!

One of our fabulous designers Yasmina has recently graduated from the University of Chichester... and gone straight into the lead role of a new musical. 🎉

Introducing... ‘Luna Loves Library Day’. A new musical adaptation of the children’s book of the same name, written by Waterstones Children’s Laureate Joseph Coelho and illustrated by Fiona Lumbers. It's a tale of Luna who, every week, looks forward to one special day: Library Day! It’s the day when she discovers magic among the library shelves, from dinosaurs to mummies, from unexplained mysteries to monsters, magic and more. But for Luna, Library Day is also the one day a week that she gets to spend with Dad, making it all the more special.

Here are a couple pictures from rehearsals:

Yasmina said, "I’m so excited to be making my professional debut in this beautiful new musical! Rehearsals are going amazingly and I can’t wait to open the show!!"

Podcast extraordinaires!

And finally, Alex, our Disability Equality & Accessibility Consultant, has recently been nominated in the first ever Independent Podcast Awards for her podcast 'Gaming The System: The Feminist Gaming Podcast'.

The awards are split into categories where the most inventive and exciting new podcasts are put in the spotlight. Alex and the team are in the Gaming category, as Gaming The System looks at gaming through a feminist lens.

You can follow Gaming the System and watch clips of their podcast on their Instagram. 🎉
